ANDI Peters has reacted to becoming embroiled in a “racism row” after actress Miriam Margolyes used a slur in front of him live on This Morning.
The popular broadcaster, 56, who was standing in as a presenter on the ITV daytime series this week, told how he had to be “ready for anything” while on air.
Earlier this week we reported how Harry Potter star Miriam, 85, who is known for being outspoken, made the distasteful comment about Andi’s skin colour.
It came during a segment where Andi and co-host Christine Lampard discussed Miriam’s new book, Miriam’s Full English.
Now Andi has opened up on the incident during an online exchange with BBC Radio 2 anchor Jeremy Vine, 61.
He took to his page on X to write: “This is seriously nerve-wracking. No filter.

Andi then replied: “Thanks JV. As you know we have to be ready for ANYTHING!!!”
The controversial moment, aired on Thursday’s This Morning but removed from the upload on ITV X, came as Miriam turned her attention to Andi’s heritage.
She said: “But what accent would be normal for you?”
Andi responded: “This is normal, this is what I am”, while Miriam said: “Oh, you’re a mix, aren’t you?
“You’ve got a black daddy and a white mummy”.
To which Andi corrected: “No, no, no. Both my parents are black”, before joking: “What have they put on me, am I a lighter shade than normal?”
Miriam then used an archaic slur originating from the US – before producers intervened off-screen.
They are believed to have communicated with Andi via his ear piece, as he said out loud: “Oh, okay. They’re getting nervous now. They’re getting nervous now”.
Miriam said: “Don’t be nervous. We welcome everybody. That’s what I want to write about in my book. It’s about inclusion”.
After witnessing the uncomfortable dialogue, viewers took to X to share their disapproval.
One commented: “This isn’t run of the mill racism. It’s 19th century American racism”.
