Luka’s Not Selling His Architecturally Significant Dallas Home, Rep Confirms

Is Luka Selling His Dallas Home

Welcome home, Luka. Tonight, Dončić walks back into the American Airlines Center that he called home for six seasons — and the stunning Dallas house he’s owned for five. One of these places is in his rearview mirror, but his Preston Hollow garage is still metaphorically full.

The Dallas Mavericks face off against the L.A. Lakers for the first time on our home court since the trade that sent shockwaves through the city the nation. Even though Luka won’t be wearing blue, the Dallas crowd will be full of forever fans wearing No. 77.

What’s Happening With Luka’s Dallas Home?

We know why you’re here on CandysDirt.com, though: Is Luka selling his Dallas home? When the trade went down Feb. 1-2, Candy immediately wondered whether he’d list his Preston Hollow home.

In a city that tracks luxury listings like (traded away) draft picks, we hit the phones, checked the MLS daily, and set Google Alerts for any sign that Luka was selling his Dallas home. These days, plenty of brokerages have specialty divisions for celebrities and athletes, so brokers were whispering and Realtors circling for a prized listing.

Our answer came Tuesday when we reached out to Luka’s reps to find out whether his Preston Home property was being staged for the market or if Luka was planning on keeping his Dallas residence.

“Luka is not in the process of selling his Dallas home at the moment,” Dončić’s business manager and foundation CEO Lara Beth Seager told CandysDirt.com.

Collective sigh of relief.

A Magnificent Home

That may be because the home isn’t just a place — it’s a hub for Luka’s off-court passions. An Esquire profile of Dončić last year gave fans a look into his deep love of cars: an Apocalypse Hellfire 6×6 truck, a purple Lamborghini Urus, a pristine 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, and more — many of which have reportedly lived in that Preston Hollow garage.

After all, Luka’s cul-de-sac home is not the kind of place that gets relisted with an open house sign and a balloon on the lawn.

It’s a home we know well. The architecturally significant home was built in 1984 by Dallas architect Hardy McCullah as his personal home. If you know anything about architecture, you know that homes that architects build for themselves are impeccable (and impossibly OCD with perfection).

With “Northpark blond” brick and walls of glass, it was custom-renovated by John Huffman, owner of JH Design + Build, and put on the market in May 2020. A then-21-year-old and single Luka purchased the 5,225-square-foot modern showplace after only three days on the market for a reported $3.1 million. (God what a bargain!)

How Is Luka in L.A.?

But the adjustment to a new city has been stark. “Dallas had been my home for almost seven years,” Dončić said to reporters on March 20. “It really felt like home, but coming here, it’s like building a new home and I’m getting more comfortable.”

The future Hall-of-Famer has been busy so we haven’t seen much on his social that’s not gold and purple, but his fiancée Anamaria Goltes offered Instagram a glimpse of how they’re settling into Southern California.

Shown strolling the Venice Beach Boardwalk and playing in the sand at what Insta fans ID’ed as Santa Monica, Goltes also shared a sweet vacation moment while she and Luka enjoyed the beachfront view from their Cabo resort.

No word on Luka’s plans to buy a home in Los Angeles. But the Slovenian has had very little time to do so. Luka had 24 hours from the time he heard about the trade to the time he touched down in L.A., and the Dončić family had only days to settle into L.A.

A Clear Cooperation Violation, Right?

But it still stings. Fans remember the promise, the hype, the hope. And they’ll show it tonight — in cheers, all wearing their tear-stained Mavs No. 77 shirts. (P.S. You can still pick up clearance Luka gear on MavsShop.com, but search “Luka” for a better selection than what’s listed in his category.)

But in real estate terms, we get it now. Luka was a once-in-a-generation listing sold in a quiet pocket deal. No sign in the yard, no notice to neighbors, no chance to compete. Just a handshake, a coffee, and suddenly, Mavericks GM Nico Harrison had sold the “house” off the market.

At least Luka’s house is not gone.

So welcome home, Luka. Some things change — jerseys, cities, time zones. But this city? We’re still watching, still rooting, still refreshing Zillow. Just in case.
