Texas Sports Writers Association’s 2024 Class 5A all-state high school football team

Richmond Randle sophomore running back Landen Williams-Callis and senior defensive lineman Chace Sims grabbed player of the year awards on the 73rd annual Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 5A all-state football team.

Williams-Callis rushed for 2,108 yards with 43 touchdowns, averaging 9.3 yards per carry. In two years, he has 4,052 yards with 66 touchdowns.

The 6-3, 305-pound Sims, who signed with Texas A&M, had 106 tackles, 28 of them for losses.

While the two players of the year come from Richmond Randle, there was plenty of Dallas-area talent throughout the All-State selections.

Denton Ryan offensive tackle Ty Haywood, who recently signed with Michigan, and South Oak Cliff’s Emeka Ugorji were named the first-team offensive tackles. They were joined on the first-team offensive line by Frisco Lone Star center Gary Lassley and Argyle guard Weston Chaney.

Both first-team wide receivers come from the D-FW area, as Aledo’s Kaydon Finley and Lovejoy WR and Texas signee Daylan McCutcheon received first-team honors.

Ugorji was one of five South Oak Cliff stars to make the first-team All-State roster, including DL Kamuayrn Morgan, LB Jayden Shelton, LB Jamarion Phillips and kick returner Marcell Gipson Jr.

Highland Park quarterback Buck Randall was named second-team All-State QB alongside Prosper Walnut Grove RB Cam Newton.
