Update:
3:54 p.m. Feb. 9, 2025: Revised to include additional information from the weather service.
Say goodbye to spring-like weather and bring out your sweaters again, North Texas.
After Dallas-Fort Worth broke its record for daily high temperature twice Saturday, the area is expected to see a return to more normal February weather Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
A cold front is expected to bring cooler temperatures, with highs only reaching around 50 degrees for the Dallas-Fort Worth area, it said.
Temperatures Sunday afternoon were a “stark contrast” to the record-breaking heat the day before, reaching around 5-10 degrees below normal for early February, according to National Weather Service.
The coming week is forecast to see similar weather, and the area could also potentially see freezing temperatures Wednesday night.
In addition, the weather service said there are high chances for rain Monday night to Wednesday. It added that east of the Highway 75/Interstate 45 corridor could see the highest rainfall totals, including up to two inches.
