B.A.A. High Performance Team Adds Five-Time NCAA All-American Rosina Machu – runblogrun

Editor’s note: Team BAA High Performance is a superb example of BAA investing in the sport’s future. Coach Carroll develops athletes, giving them the chance and support that they need to develop over the long term. Congrats to Rosina Machu, who comes from Gonzaga (Gonzaga is in the same conference I competed in for the Santa Clara Broncos all those years ago)!

BOSTON – The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced that Rosina Machu, a five-time NCAA All-American at Gonzaga University, has joined the B.A.A. High Performance Team. The Boston-based professional team is coached by Mark Carroll and supported by both the B.A.A. and adidas.

“Rosina is coming off a strong career at Gonzaga where she was consistently among top finishers at the NCAA Championships,” said Coach Carroll, the B.A.A.’s Director of Performance and Head Coach. “She will be a strong addition to our team, and we look forward to her representing the unicorn uniform soon.”

Rosina will represent the B.A.A. at the Boston 10K for Women on October 11 and in cross country throughout the fall.

“I’m incredibly grateful and excited to be a part of the B.A.A. High Performance Team,” said Machu. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to be coached by Mark Carroll and learn from his experience and guidance, and to train and compete alongside some incredible athletes!”

From Boise, Idaho, Machu capped her collegiate career at Gonzaga with 11th and 20th place finishes at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 10,000m and 5,000m. In 2025, she finished seventh in the NCAA 10,000m and qualified for the USA National Championships. She earned All-American honors in the 5,000m, 10,000m, and cross country, and three times earned NCAA All-West Region accolades.

Additionally, Machu twice was West Coast Conference champion and named WCC Runner of the Year. She holds Gonzaga University school records at distances from the 1500m through the 10,000m.

The B.A.A.’s High Performance team supports runners on their way towards making international teams, with the goal of competing at the highest level: the Olympic Games, World Athletics Championships, and Abbott World Marathon Majors. The B.A.A. is sponsored by adidas, which provides comprehensive support for the organization’s High Performance team, running club, and mass-participatory events.
