Bret Michaels has finally reflected on taking a step back from the stage for the rest of the year after undergoing emergency surgery.
Taking to his Instagram, the 63-year-old American rock musician revealed that he underwent emergency surgery to get rid of kidney stones in July of this year.
Michaels told his fans that the sort of complications he faced regarding his health during his comeback show in Sugar Hill, Georgia, on Friday, August 21, forced him to prioritize his health at any cost.
He said, “I always choose victory over being a victim to my disease. I truly felt I would be able to do all these shows in spite of the recent medical domino effect that has occurred.”
Michaels “was “truly upset that I could not play The Mountain Music Festival as I love the fans, the outdoors and Tennessee.”
The Fallen Angel crooner is working ‘diligently’ with his doctors and physical therapists, as they are trying to adjust “all the new medication and factoring in” other elements that worsened his health scares during Friday’s show.
“It was my first show back and I wanted to give every ounce of energy I had in me. With my excitement, I also forgot to factor in the coast to coast flight, which had an effect on my blood sugar & blood pressure with the new medicine adjustments, including my insulin,” he stated.
“There are not enough words to ever say how grateful I am for all the well wishes of family, friends, fans, bands, crews…and Larry, as well as the incredible get well shoutouts from my musician friends on stage @the_mountain_music_festival,” the Life Goes On hitmaker acknowledged.
It is pertinent to mention that Bret Michaels has been living with Type 1 diabetes as well.
