Marvel fans are over the moon as Robert Downey Jr. is all set to wear his Iron Man gear once again seven years after his character’s death.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced on Saturday at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event that Downey will reprise his role as Tony Starks in the new Disneyland attraction “Avengers: Infinity Defense.”
For those unversed, Avengers Infinity Defense is the new headliner coming to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure which is opening in 2028 along with Stark Flight Lab.
Other Avengers stars, including Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor, will also join Robert, with Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel handling the pre-mission briefing.
A post regarding the returning lineup for Avengers Infinity Defense was also posted on Disney Parks social media handles, along with a clip of Robert and footage showing actors receiving their materials for the upcoming return during production on Avengers: Doomsday.
Robert said to guests in the video, “Welcome to Avengers Campus. We built this place to recruit, inspire the next generation” of heroes.
“You’re a big part of that mission,” the actor noted, hinting at the ride’s plot that will show a battle with Marvel villain Thanos.
He exclaimed, “They are not ready for Thanos.”
The video also showed all heroes fighting with Thanos.
Robert Downey Jr. last portrayed Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame, released in 2019, in which his character died in the end.
It is pertinent to mention that Robert is also returning to the Avengers universe as Victor Von Doom, aka supervillain Doctor Doom, in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday set to release in December.
