Her weight has fluctuated over the years. She weighed 500 pounds at her heaviest. She flaunted a 100-pound weight loss onΒ The Tonight Show in July. Chrissy Metz credited the weight loss to a change in lifestyle. She didnβt reveal it at the time, but we now know the change in lifestyle included using GLP-1 weight loss medication.
Chrissy Metz opened up on the Today Show about why she refused to use the medication for years and what changed her mind. βI didnβt know how it was going to react in my body. I donβt think we also knew all the right information. I think we were sort of miseducated β and I was as well,β she admitted.

Her fatherβs declining health was the catalyst for her decision to start using GLP-1s. there were some complications with my fatherβs health, and I was like, βMaybe I should try to get ahead of it,ββ she explained. She Shares Update On How Sheβs Doing Now
Chrissy Metz shared more insight into her decision to use GLP-1 weight loss medication. βIβm not getting any younger. Iβm in perimenopause, and there were obesity issues within my family and with my father, and I felt like Iβve tried so many modalities, whether it was diets or therapy, and none of it really worked for me,β she told PEOPLE magazine.
The actress, 45, made her Broadway debut in June as AngΓ©lique in the musical & Juliet. βItβs been great! Iβve enjoyed the benefits that I didnβt think that would come, because I was very skeptical,β she said about how the GLP-1 medication is working so far.
But sheβs not relying solely on the weight loss medication. Sheβs doing weight training and exercising more. βItβs good for me because Iβm really putting myself first and itβs something Iβve always wanted to do but have to really put into practice,β Chrissy Metz said about the lifestyle change required with GLP-1 medication.
