Meghan Markle has been lauded for her kind gesture to a special one who is now part of the Sussex clan.
With the help of The Beagle Freedom Project (BFP), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex adopted their rescued beagle Mamma Mia in 2022.
The couple saw the fur companion at the Envigo breeding facility and fell in love with her.
After Meghan featured her beloved pet in her birthday video, BFP’s social media page recalled the rescue story of resilient Mamma Mia.
The video showcased several clips of the dog’s journey with a heartfelt voiceover.
The organisation shared, “This is Mamma Mia. She was rescued from the animal testing industry when the Envigo breeding facility was shut down in 2022.
“Not only is she resilient, but now she’s royal. Her incredible rescue story captured the hearts of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
“Meghan personally called BFP’s founder and president Shannon Keith, expressing interest in adopting Mamma Mia.
“Soon after that, Megan and Prince Harry were playing with Mamma Mia and her pups in the backyard of the BFP headquarters, and four years later, Mamma Mia is wearing a silver party hat and being silly with her loving forever family celebrating her mom’s birthday, and they lived happily ever after.”
