The Cowboys currently have 90 players on their roster, with 88 of those players born in one of the 50 States of The Union. Those 88 players hail from 29 different states in the U.S.A., CB Corey Ballantine was born in Jamaica, DT Adedayo Odeleye was born in Nigeria.
The interactive map below shows you how many players were born in which state. The darker a state, the more players were born in that state. Hover over a state with your mouse pointer (or tap the state on your phone) and you’ll get a popup that shows you how many and which players were born there.
Here are some random facts about the Cowboys roster:
You can see from the table above that 13 of the 90 players were born in Texas, making Texas the biggest contributor to the team. Predictably, Florida (8) and California (7), follow as numbers two and three. Last year, a study of all 1,730 players on the 2025 opening day rosters showed that those three states are also the states that produce the most players for the entire NFL. Here’ a look at the top 10 states producing the most NFL players last year, and how that compares to the Cowboys roster.
Unsurprisingly, Texas is over-represented on the 90-man Cowboys roster, as the Cowboys looked in part to local talent to fill up their UDFA ranks, but Alabama and Louisiana also show up strong for the Cowboys.
Other facts about the 2026 roster (per Thursday, June 4, 2026):
Of the 29 states represented on the roster, eleven states have only one player on the Cowboys roster.
Five players were born in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area: Tyler Smith and Jaden Smith (both Fort Worth), Tommy Dunn and Jordan Hudson (both Garland), and Josh Butler (Mesquite).
Outside of DFW, only four cities have multiple Cowboys representing their city. Houston (Jaydon Blue, Otito Ogbonnia, Zion Childress), Monroe LA (KaVontae Turpin, Camden Brown), Nashville (Princeton Fant, Langston Patterson), and Tampa (Malik Davis, Michael Trigg).
So what stands out to you? How many players hail from your state and who do you pick to be your state representative?
