Displaced Family Returns Home Following Truce Between Israel and Lebanon
Ghia Hajo, 25, returned to her home in Tyre, a city in southern Lebanon that Israel has bombarded with strikes, following the announcement of a 10-day cease-fire.
When I heard about the cease-fire, I didnβt know what should I feel? Because at one hand, I was happy that Iβm going back. But at the other hand, I was afraid. Afraid maybe it wonβt be real. So basically, this is the Qasmiyeh river over there. The Lebanese Army has fixed the road here. Itβs an old road for us to pass by. Itβs the only road for us to go back to south of Lebanon and specifically to Tyre. This is our land. So thatβs why we are not scared of coming back, although we know itβs not 100 percent safe. So Iβm a little bit shocked. But at the same time, I know we can go through this. I want to clean my room so I can sleep on my bed. Today Iβm going to sleep on my bed, hopefully, in south of Lebanon. Thank God that my house is still standing.
