Victor Newman preaches over & over again, doing everything in his power to protect his family, yet he doesn’t. Dear Victor Newman… Jack Abbott is your daughter Abby’s uncle & you have kidnapped him. Why do you hate his daughter, Abby? Her son was JUST kidnapped. Also, her sister-in-law, Lily Winters, is MIA & Abby doesn’t know quite yet that Daddy-not-so-dearest is also responsible for this kidnapping.

Young & the Restless fans have wondered why Abby is almost always out of the loop. Perhaps it is for her own good.

Y&R’s Victor Newman Kidnapped Abby’s Uncle

Why does Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) hate his daughter’s uncle, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), so much? Does he still not adore Abby Winters’ (Melissa Ordway) mother, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson)? Let’s call it Y&R fans… Victor Newman does almost everything in his power to NOT protect his family. Now, Victor has Jack Abbott hunkered down in a boat in the middle of Lake Michigan with one of the most psychotic blasts from the past, Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk).

Somehow, Abby & her mother, Ashley, are not in the loop yet, but Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) is, thanks to Nikki Newman. If only Traci Abbott could slap Nikki or Victor Newman all the way to that yacht where Jack Abbott is being held with Patty…

Y&R’s Lily Winters & Her Children: Also Kidnapped by Victor Newman

Here is where it gets even better. Devon Winters (Bryton James) is Abby’s husband. Lily Winters is Devon’s sister. Victor Newman is currently holding Lily & her children somewhere, & Abby is just supposed to be okay with that, too. Her husband’s sister. Her child’s aunt. Victor Newman has essentially taken members of Abby’s own family hostage & is apparently waiting for someone to thank him for it. The layers of this are genuinely extraordinary & not in a good way.

Abby’s Son Was Kidnapped, Victor Barely Cared & Now Cares Even Less

Here is the part that should make every Y&R fan’s head explode. Abby Newman knows exactly what it feels like to have someone close to her kidnapped. Her son Dominic’s kidnapping was one of the most traumatic storylines this family has been through & it affected everyone involved in ways that never fully went away. Victor Newman watched all of that happen. Victor Newman was barely there for her & is now kidnapping people like it is a completely reasonable way to handle a disagreement.

Seriously, what WON’T Victor Newman do at this point to hurt his family?

Young & the Restless Fans — How Is Abby Newman Still Standing?

Abby Newman is the daughter of a man who thinks kidnapping is a legitimate business strategy, the wife of a man whose sister is currently being held somewhere by that same man, & a mother who knows firsthand what it feels like to have someone you love taken against their will. & she is still showing up. Still functioning. Still somehow keeping it together while Victor Newman does whatever he wants & calls it protecting the family.

So, Y&R fans — how is Abby Newman still standing, & when does she finally tell Victor Newman exactly what she thinks of his version of family loyalty?
