Jensen Ackles has shared a brief update about the upcoming The Boys spinoff, Vought Rising. In a recent social media post, the actor revealed a key milestone in the production process while acknowledging the work of the cast and crew involved in the series.

Jensen Ackles posted a video on Instagram announcing the milestone and revealing that production had reached its final day. Ackles wrote in the caption, “Finishing out with a bang! It’s been an absolute thrill ride.”
The post also included a message thanking the people involved in the production. Ackles wrote, “Thanks to the crew and cast and all those that gave so much time and energy to make this happen. You’re all a bunch of psychos…and I love you for it.” The video accompanying the post showed Ackles preparing to get into his Soldier Boy costume, which he explained requires assistance from three to five people.
Ackles began the video by stating, “final day of filming, Vought Rising, Season 1,” confirming that production for the season had wrapped. Vought Rising serves as a prequel within the universe of The Boys and features Jensen Ackles reprising his role as Soldier Boy. Ackles’ update marked one of the first direct confirmations about the project’s production timeline. His announcement confirmed that the series had reached a key stage in filming.
The story takes place in the 1950s and follows the early history of Soldier Boy alongside the origins of the Vought corporation. The series presents a twisted murder mystery that explores the company’s beginnings and the actions of early superheroes. Aya Cash will also reprise her role as Klara Risinger, also known as Stormfront.
The cast includes Mason Dye, Elizabeth Posey, Will Hochman, Jorden Myrie, Nicolo Pasetti, Ricky Staffieri, Brian J. Smith, and Kiki Layne. Through its storyline, the series examines events that occurred decades before the timeline of The Boys. The narrative introduces a younger version of Soldier Boy earlier in his history.
Prime Video has not announced an official release date for Vought Rising. The series could arrive in late 2026, though a release in early 2027 is also possible. Meanwhile, The Boys will return for its fifth and final season on April 8. Prime Video will release new episodes weekly on Wednesdays until the finale on May 20.
