Jeremy Allen White used a Bruce Springsteen song to stay grounded while filming Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.
The actor, who plays a young Springsteen in the biopic, said Mansion on the Hill became his reset button on difficult shooting days.Β
βIf I was feeling lost or unsure, I would return to that song,β White, 34, told People at the Gotham Awards in New York City on December 1.Β
He said the song reflected the heart of the film, which follows Springsteen creating his 1982 album Nebraska.
White also recorded Mansion on the Hill for the October 24 film and is getting praised for playing the 20-time Grammy winner.
To prepare, he studied Springsteenβs physicality as much as his music. βThere was this seven-minute interview I watched almost every morning,β he said. βBut it was really the way he held his guitar.βΒ
White analysed Springsteenβs posture, the way he dropped his head while recording, and how he lifted into the harmonica. βIf I was feeling lost, I relied on those things,β he added.
Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is now in theaters.
