The new carbon fiber package gives the brutish SUV a tougher look, amplifying its attitude without tipping into caricature

The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 already cuts an imposing figure straight from the factory, but for Larte Design, that wasn’t quite enough. The German tuner decided the SUV needed a little more edge, unveiling the ‘Winner’ body kit, a newly developed package that sharpens the GLS’s look, but avoids the trap of being too over-the-top.
Compared to other Larte kits, this one is relatively understated. The biggest single change is the fitment of a carbon fiber hood that has a couple of vents to aid in cooling. A new splitter has also been added to the original front bumper, and carbon fiber pieces now adorn the outer edge of the air intakes.

The kit also includes flared wheel arches at the front and rear, housing optional aftermarket forged wheels. To our eyes, the spoke design of these wheels is a little too intricate for a vehicle like the GLS 63, but customers can keep the original rims should they choose.
Completing the modifications are some touches to the SUV’s rear-end. They include a carbon fiber diffuser, a curved roof spoiler, carbon fiber bumper overlays, and new tailpipes.
All of the body parts that Larte sells for the AMG are made from lightweight pre-preg carbon fiber and have undergone TÜV certification. Importantly, they also use the original mounting points, meaning no cutting is required.
That’s especially good news for those concerned about selling their GLS with Larte’s kit, as the parts can be easily removed and replaced with the stock components.

Larte isn’t always this restrained, though. Back in October, it presented a far more dramatic package for the Cadillac Escalade, featuring an exposed carbon hood, extended arches, a prominent splitter, and a rear diffuser.
The ‘Winner’ kit for the GLS 63 might not be as audacious, but that’s precisely its appeal, as it enhances the AMG’s presence without rewriting its personality.
