Although Dorothy Gale might not show her face in Wicked: For Good, the actress who played the iconic literary character is revealing a behind-the-scenes look at her portrayal.
British actress Bethany Weaver raved about her “life-changing experience” donning the blue gingham dress and skipping down the Yellow Brick Road for the second installment of Jon M. Chu‘s move musical adaptation as she shared some photos from set.
“What an honour it has been to walk on the yellow brick road with my fellow Witch Hunters @jbayleaf @ethanslater @omariabernard and not forgetting Oscar the dog! (Toto)” she began in the caption.
In addition to thanking Universal Pictures and Tamsyn Manson Casting, Weaver wrote, “A huge thank you to the best film maker of all time @jonmchu for choosing me to be your Dorothy in this wonderfully wicked universe called Oz. Thank you for contributing to starting my beginning.”
“This has been a life changing experience, it’s changed me in so many ways and most importantly, for good,” she added. “It’s been an honour to carry the legacy of the brilliant women before me who have stepped into these shoes, and embarked on the yellow brick road. I hope I have made them proud.”
Weaver wrote, “Thank you for the sheer volume of love, kind messages and support from all of my friends and family and the glorious wicked fans, I love you all so much! Lots of love, your friend, Dorothy.”
After Chu noted that Dorothy will have more of a presence in the second part of his Wicked adaptation, he teased the the they “tread lightly,” previously explaining that she “is a pawn” in Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda’s (Ariana Grande) story.
“I didn’t want to step on who you think Dorothy is in whatever story that you came into this with,” said Chu of Wicked: For Good, now playing in theaters.
