Mercedes-Benz EQA and EQB recalled for fire risk


The Mercedes-Benz EQAandEQBelectric SUVs have been recalled for a potential fire risk, with a half a dozen examples affected.

β€œDue to a software issue, the high voltage battery may short circuit if charged over 80 percent capacity,” the company says in its recall notice.

β€œIf this occurs, the battery could overheat and lead to a vehicle fire.

β€œA vehicle fire could increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, and bystanders, and/or damage to property.”

  • A total of 6 vehicles are affected, produced between 2023 and 2024

Mercedes-Benz will contact owners when a software update is available.

Until this update is deployed on your vehicle, Mercedes-Benz says not to charge your battery above 80 per cent. You can adjust the maximum charging level either through your touchscreen or in the Mercedes-Benz app.
