The Knicks looked dead in the water β down 20, on the road, offense stalling, just crumbling. Then Karl-Anthony Towns completely flipped the switch.
New York clawed back to steal a 106-100 win in Indiana, cutting the Pacersβ series lead to 2β1 and swinging the momentum squarely back to the orange and blue.
βThe game wasnβt looking great for me,β Towns said. βBut for all of us, I just wanted to do whatever it takes to help put us in a position to win.β
Mission accomplished. KAT dropped 20 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter, anchoring a Knicks run that silenced Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indiana. He added 15 boards and a few timely stops to cap one of his most clutch performances in a Knicks jersey.
βI just trusted the work,β Towns said. βI didnβt care how it looked early. I knew Iβd find my rhythm.β
Jalen Brunson, battling foul trouble all game, chipped in 23 points and hit a massive floater to put the Knicks ahead for good with under two minutes to play.
βWe donβt stop,β Brunson said. βThatβs who we are.β
Josh Hart was also everywhere after Tom Thibodeau opted to start Mitchell Robison started over him β 11 rebounds, relentless energy, and maybe a couple bruises for good measure.
Thibodeau went deep into his bench and got just enough from everyone β Shamet, Wright, Achiuwa β to hang around until the stars took over.
βI know you guys roll your eyes when I say no lead is safe, but no lead is safe,β Thibs told the media with a smile after his teamβs 20-point comeback.
Game 4 tips off Tuesday night back in Indy. Donβt count the Knicks out. Theyβre surviving, swinging, and trying to drag this series back to the Garden with purpose.
