Tudor architecture isn’t always a go-to canvas for contemporary tastes. Rooted in Renaissance style, this movement is steeped in tradition. However, cities like Dallas that have both the inventory and architectural ambitions are taking Tudors into the 21st century with incredible style. Done right, these remodels raise the standards of stunning design. Of course, where better than Hollywood Heights to see an example.
This week, we found a knockout Tudor with a facelift you won’t forget. Blending modern updates with traditional touches, this home showcases sophisticated design from all angles.
“The owners are a husband and wife design team,” said listing agent Lou Moore with Allie Beth Allman & Associates. “He handles construction, and she’s the designer. I would call her an absolute artist. The way she transformed this project to honor the Tudor heritage while creating a contemporary feel is just impeccable.”
From the curb, this Tudor stands out with its slate-colored roof and floor-to-ceiling windows. The subtle touches of black blend these elements with the dormer window to reinterpret the design tradition.

Then, the interior showcases stunning instincts and an eye for the movement. The way this home uses color is a masterclass in its own. Light wood tones coalesce with cream finishes to create a bright and inspiring space.
The layout is open and inviting, creating opportunities for hosting and entertainment. The main living area centers around an ornate gas hearth and pulls in natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows.

The chef’s kitchen shows off sophisticated design intelligence with custom cabinets, gorgeous Brazilian marble counters, and a pot-filler stove. Flanked by the dining area and eat-in bar, this area accommodates gatherings of all calibers.
The primary suite is yet another example of how color can carry an ambiance. The bold midnight blue plays perfectly with warm hardwoods and plenty of exterior light.

Then, the ensuite bathroom is as enchanting as it is updated. Here, stunning tilework and gold trim set the tone for a sleek spa escape. The wet room features an enormous shower space next to a standalone soaking tub.

Each bedroom of this house features its own ensuite, making it perfect for privacy.
Also, it’s easy to lose yourself exploring the library, family room, and all the unique gathering spaces this home has to offer. They did a great job maximizing every angle to create an expansive feel.

Finally, the backyard interacts with the interior in a seamless way. With a quaint courtyard accessible through multiple doorways, this outdoor escape invites you to relax at any moment. This area also features a stairway to a raised lawn that’s perfect for playing with family and pets.
Rarely have we seen convention turned on its head in such a head-turning manner. Therefore, this Hollywood Heights Tudor really pulled off something unique. To see what else this incredible neighborhood has to offer, check out the 31st annual Hollywood Home Tour on May 2.
