Miami Open Draw 2025 – Perfect Tennis

Less than 24 hours after the Indian Wells final, the 2025 Miami Open draw is out, and the second leg of the Sunshine Double will commence main draw action on Wednesday, 19th March.

There’s no Jannik Sinner again, as the Italian continues serving his three-month ban following two failed doping tests. That leaves Sascha Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz as the top two seeds, with the latter aiming for his second Miami title.

The draw has produced some intriguing matchups with Zverev leading the top quarter and he could face Frances Tiafoe or Arthur Fils in the fourth round, with a potential clash against Jack Draper or Holger Rune in the last eight.

Carlos Alcaraz anchors the bottom section, with Grigor Dimitrov as a possible fourth-round opponent. The Spaniard may then face Paul or Ruud in the quarters as he looks to return to winning ways after his defeat to Draper in Indian Wells.

Printable Draws

Thoughts on the Draw

draw thoughts miami opendraw thoughts miami open

Top Quarter

Seeded players: Alexander Zverev (1), Jack Draper (6), Holger Rune (11), Frances Tiafoe (16), Arthur Fils (17), Tomas Machac (20), Alexei Popyrin (25), Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (28)

Zverev heads into Miami as the top seed, but since his defeat to Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open final, the German’s form has noticeably dipped—he hasn’t reached a semi-final since.

The 27-year-old will likely open his campaign against Benjamin Bonzi before potentially facing a tricky third-round match against either Jordan Thompson or Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

This draw section is competitive, with Frances Tiafoe or Arthur Fils possibly awaiting in the fourth round. Should he advance, a quarterfinal clash with one of the Indian Wells finalists, Jack Draper or Holger Rune, could be on the cards.

Zverev’s Projected Path:

  • Round 1: Bye
  • Round 2: Benjamin Bonzi
  • Round 3: Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard
  • Round 4: Frances Tiafoe / Arthur Fils
  • Quarter Final: Jack Draper / Holger Rune
  • Semi-Final: Taylor Fritz
  • Final: Carlos Alcaraz

Projected quarterfinal: Alexander Zverev (1) vs Jack Draper (6)

Second Quarter

Seeded players: Taylor Fritz (3), Andrey Rublev (8), Alex de Minaur (10), Ben Shelton (13), Ugo Humbert (19), Hubert Hurkacz (21), Denis Shapovalov (27), Matteo Berrettini (29)

The bottom quarter of the top half of the draw is headed up by third seed Taylor Fritz, who, like Zverev, hasn’t been in great form in recent weeks, and Miami hasn’t been his best Masters 1000 tournament, so I’m not sure how well he’ll perform.

He could face Denis Shapovalov in the third round, and the potential of an all-American quarterfinal with Ben Shelton looms after that, who I think will make the semi-final gets past former champ Hurkacz.

Andrey Rublev and Alex de Minaur are also in this quarter, with Berrettini and Humbert as the other seeds.

Joao Fonseca, fresh off another Challenger title in Arizona, will also face off with Learner Tien in the first round, which should get the crowd going.

Fritz’s Projected Path:

  • Round 1: Bye
  • Round 2: Lorenzo Sonego / Mario Navone
  • Round 3: Denis Shapovalov
  • Round 4: Ben Shelton / Hubert Hurkacz
  • Quarter Final: Andrey Rublev / Alex de Minaur
  • Semi-Final: Alexander Zverev
  • Final: Carlos Alcaraz

Projected quarterfinal: Taylor Fritz (3) vs Andrey Rublev (8)

Third Quarter

Seeded players: Novak Djokovic (4), Daniil Medvedev (7), Stefanos Tsitsipas (9), Lorenzo Musetti (15), Felix Auger-Aliassime (18), Sebastian Korda (24), Jiri Lehecka (26), Alex Michelsen (32)

The bottom half of the draw is undoubtedly more loaded on paper, and the third quarter includes Djokovic, Medvedev and Tsitsipas.

Meddy and Tstisi could meet in the fourth round, but Lehecka, Monfils and Marzosan, who made the quarters last year, can disrupt that.

Djokovic could meet Hamad Medjedovic in an all-Serbian second-round encounter, marking their first-ever match in a classic Master vs Apprentice showdown, after Novak helped fund and mentor his compatriot.

Musetti will fancy his chances in this section; he made the quarterfinals last year and looks to have a reasonably manageable draw.

Djokovic’s Projected Path:

  • Round 1: Bye
  • Round 2: Hamad Medjedovic
  • Round 3: Alex Michelsen
  • Round 4: Lorenzo Musetti / Felix Auger-Aliassime
  • Quarter Final: Daniil Medvedev / Stefanos Tsitsipas
  • Semi-Final: Carlos Alcaraz
  • Final: Alexander Zverev

Projected quarterfinal: Daniil Medvedev (7) vs Novak Djokovic (4)

Bottom Quarter

Seeded players: Carlos Alcaraz (2), Casper Ruud (5), Tommy Paul (12), Grigor Dimitrov (14), Karen Khachanov (22), Francisco Cerundolo (23), Alejandro Tabilo (30), Brandon Nakashima (31)

The final quarter of the draw is led by Carlos Alcaraz and Grigor Dimitrov, who knocked him out in last year’s semi-final, could be on the cards in the fourth round, but the Spaniard will be heavily favoured to exact his revenge this time.

Tommy Paul will be looking to make his first quarterfinals in Miami, and he is slated to have a potential fourth-round meeting with former finalist Casper Ruud.

Ruud has struggled to make deep runs this season, but his section looks pretty straightforward, and I’d back him to face Cerundolo or Paul in the last sixteen.

Alcaraz is the big favourite in his section, but it will depend on whether Indian Wells has knocked his confidence, given how poorly he played vs Draper.

Alcaraz’s Projected Path

  • Round 1: Bye
  • Round 2: Aleksandar Vukic / David Goffin
  • Round 3: Brandon Nakashima
  • Round 4: Grigor Dimitrov
  • Quarter Final: Casper Ruud / Tommy Paul / Francisco Cerundiolo
  • Semi-Final: Novak Djokovic
  • Final: Alexander Zverev

Projected quarterfinal: Casper Ruud (5) vs Carlos Alcaraz (2)
