Gwyneth Paltrow has said she welcomes Meghan Markleβs βattemptβ to become a lifestyle influencer with new Netflix series With Love, Meghan β but she has yet to engage with the show.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Paltrow was asked how she feels about competition from the Duchess of Sussex having established Goop as a lifestyle and wellness empire over the past 17 years.
βI was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,β she told the magazine. βI think thereβs always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.β
Paltrow added that she had not watched the trailer for With Love, Meghan and does not know Markle, despite them both living in the same Montecito neighborhood.
βIβve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I donβt know her at all,β Paltrow explained. βMaybe Iβll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.β
She added that when βthereβs noise about certain women in the culture, I do have, always, a strong instinct to stand up for them.β
Markleβs series has been renewed for a second season by Netflix despite being pilloried by television critics. The show features the former Suits star entertaining guests in a hired house and making creations including a rainbow fruit display and ladybug crostinis.
Since launching in 2008, Paltrow has built Goop into a business that was valued at $250M in 2018, selling beauty, fashion, and wellness products, as well as sex toys and jade eggs.
