YAGP: The Evolution of Classical Ballet Choreography at the NYPL for the Performing Arts

On Thursday, February 21st, 2025, the Jerome Robbins Dance Division hosted a panel in partnership with YAGP to examine the evolution of choreography from classical ballet pantomime to today.

This event was held at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and featured two YAGP alumni as panelists, Misty Copeland and John Meehan.

The Bruno Walter auditorium in the NYPL for the Performing Arts welcomed a wide range of attendees with a passion for ballet. Young dancers, dance educators, directors, and beyond gathered to examine and discuss the significance of ballet pantomime through a series of video excerpts and live performances from current ABT and Philadelphia Ballet company members who are also alumni of YAGP.
