Well-known golf analyst, Brandel Chamblee, reflected on Tiger Woods‘ return to the PGA Tour.
The 48-year-old confirmed that he will perform at the Genesis Invitational next week. The experienced golfer will thus appear for the first time on the PGA Tour, after his performance at the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon.
Tiger Woods was part of TGL last weeks, as one of the creators. Even though the matches where Tiger played attracted a lot of attention, the ratings of the new league are not particularly high.
Brandel Chamblee reacts
His return caused various comments, and one of those who commented was Brandel Chamblee, who is excited about the return of the golf legend, stressing that Tiger’s performance at TGL showed that Woods could be ready for great things. Chamblee continued, emphasizing his swing and weather conditions.
“Last couple of years, when he’s come out he hasn’t had the speed or stamina or looked like he’s been able to walk around the golf course. Just from a swing aspect, watching him on TGL, I was really encouraged,” Chamblee said, as quoted by The Golfing Gazette.
“Just watching that golf swing with Tiger Woods. Hopefully, the weather is okay and it’s not too cold. He needs a lot of things to fall in his favour. That golf swing right there was as good as I’ve seen since he won the Masters in 2019.”
Chamblee, who is known for his tongue-in-cheek persona, was optimistic this time around, eager to see the old Woods. The question is how much Tiger can do after all the events in his life, but it is clear that his return alone is reason enough to look forward to the next tournaments.
