D-FW’s coworking market is growing, and one of its newest players is doubling down on the Metroplex with a new location in Plano.
Kiln, the Utah-based coworking firm that made its Texas debut earlier this year in Dallas’ Preston Hollow neighborhood, is preparing to open its second location on Nov. 2 at The Shops at Legacy North.

The 29,000-square-foot space at 7300 Lone Star Drive will offer everything from individual workstations and private offices to larger team suites, conference facilities, and an array of amenities designed to make the workplace feel less like a conventional office and more like a modern, boutique-hospitality-inspired lounge.
“You want people to step in here and go, ‘Oh wow, this is cool,’ because when your client or your investor comes in, you’ve got to make them feel good,” said Kiln co-founder and creative director Leigh Radford.

CandysDirt.com got to tour the nearly finished location, which occupies a two-level space with ceilings reaching 24 feet and three freestanding structures lining the expansive interior. Wrapped in acoustic materials, the structures help absorb sound while providing a more intimate atmosphere.
Among the standout features is an upper-level executive area containing approximately 15 suites, with dedicated meeting rooms, a kitchenette, and a lounge inspired by traditional British private social clubs.
On the bottom floor, Kiln members will find an event theater (one of those freestanding structures) capable of seating 80-90 people, a podcast studio, plenty of common space, bookable rooms for individual or group work, and a wellness suite featuring a Himalayan salt wall. The space also includes a private room for health appointments, a mother’s room, and pet-friendly areas.

“We find less and less that people just want a desk,” Radford said. “They actually want to be in more of a lounge space. They’ll bring their laptop and maybe their dog too and sit here all day.”
Memberships begin at $395 monthly for shared workspace access, while dedicated desks start around $750 and private offices begin at $1,500. Larger accommodations can serve teams of several dozen employees.

Kiln’s upcoming Plano opening comes as D-FW continues to occupy a top-tier position among the country’s biggest coworking markets. According to Coworking Cafe’s latest quarterly report, the region added six coworking locations in Q3 of this year, bringing its total number of spaces to 344. That puts D-FW in third place nationally behind only Los Angeles and Chicago. In terms of square footage, the Metroplex ranks fourth, with approximately 6.98 million square feet devoted to coworking.

The median monthly coworking membership was $207, slightly below the national median of $219. Kiln’s premium pricing seems to reflect a different market segment, one focused on workplace experience and amenities rather than inexpensive desks.
“Everything we do is with a degree of purpose, and we try and create those little moments in everything we do,” Radford said, pointing to the carefully curated artwork, furniture, interior finishes, and layouts. “What we found historically when we come in and we do work like this, it changes the dynamic of any area that we take on.”

Kiln is betting that Plano’s combination of economic growth, affluent residential neighborhoods, and high-end retail destinations will make the location a good fit. The company is also betting that its members will help generate additional activity for The Shops at Legacy North. Radford said Kiln locations have historically brought hundreds of people into their buildings, creating opportunities for nearby restaurants and retailers.
Kiln isn’t necessarily finished expanding in the Dallas area either. Radford said the firm’s growth team is actively evaluating additional locations, although no specific sites or future openings have been announced.
The company expects to operate more than 25 locations nationwide by the end of 2026.
“I’m very bullish about the fact that we’re in the right place at the right time, and it only ever gets better,” Radford said about the coworking market.
