Walmart teams up with Sam’s Club for new membership bundle with chunky savings

Walmart and its warehouse club, Sam’s Club, are offering a joint membership that could save you a bunch of money.

The two companies have announced a $120 membership package that includes Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus memberships. Existing Sam’s Club Plus members can add Walmart+ at no extra cost, the company announced Tuesday.

The deal could save shoppers as much as $98 per year.

“We’re giving people a reason to expect more from their memberships,” Walmart CEO John Furner said.

Walmart+ includes free fast shipping, free 1-hour express pickup, a choice between free Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium streaming, and free store-to-home delivery. Sam’s Club members get entrance to the warehouse club and gas station.

Shoppers can team up for the package available for use at 4,615 Walmart and 602 Sam’s Club stores in the U.S.

If bought separately, the two memberships cost $218 a year – $98 for Walmart+ and $120 for Sam’s Club Plus.

There are 4,615 Walmart and 602 Sam’s Club stores in the United States.

Walmart CFO John David Rainey said in an August earnings call that Walmart+’s membership growth during the first six months of 2026 was the most of any first half in the program’s history. Walmart+ has been running since 2020.

“We’re building what we believe can be the most essential membership program for consumers, and excited for what’s ahead,” Rainey said.

The new combo-membership could help Walmart better compete with Amazon, the biggest online retailer in the U.S., as the holiday season approaches.

At $14.99 a month, Amazon Prime gives customers free two-day, one-day or same-day shipping; free Prime video streaming; and other perks.

Prime had 201 million U.S. members compared to Walmart+’s 31 million U.S. members in March, according to a May report from market research firm Consumer Intelligence Research Partners.

At $12.95 a month, Walmart+ has similar benefits but a far smaller reach.

Prime had 201 million U.S. members compared to Walmart+’s 31 million U.S. members in March, according to a report from market research firm Consumer Intelligence Research Partners.

Both companies will fight for sales in what experts say will be the biggest online holiday shopping season in history, generating an estimated $275.1 billion in sales, according to software firm Adobe.
