Journal of Emptiness is a visual artist who tells wordless, emotionally charged stories through surreal imagery. The project treats each image like a page from an unfinished novel: anonymous figures dissolve into mist, roots overtake faces, animals drift through impossible landscapes, and memories return as physical spaces that cannot be escaped.
JOEM’s work is built around a recurring emotional terrain: grief, loneliness, memory, identity, longing, and the uneasy feeling of being trapped inside one’s own thoughts. Captions are short pieces of prose rather than explanations, creating a second narrative layer beneath the images. “No one remembered where they were heading, only that turning back was impossible”; “the mist rolled over the wall, tender and cruel”; “the wind in her mind never stopped, always shaking the same lonely tree.” These lines turn individual artworks into fragments of a larger, deliberately unresolved story.
