Y&R’s Victoria & Kyle FINALLY Kiss, & I CALLED IT

So, I told you this was coming…

Back when I first floated the idea that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) & Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) had a spark worth watching, half of you told me I was reaching. This week, Young & the Restless delivers & in the most delicious location possible. They kissed in the Jabot C-suite. Not a hotel room. Not some neutral ground. The actual office where SO many Newman-Abbott power struggles have played out for decades.

Why the Jabot Office Matters

This isn’t just a romance beat, it’s a statement. Victoria & Kyle building something in that room means every future Jabot scene now carries this tension.  Young & the Restless has always used its sets as storytelling shorthand, & putting this kiss in the C-suite instead of somewhere private tells me the writers want us to know this isn’t going away quietly.

The Reactions I’m Actually Here For

Forget the “eww” crowd for a second. The real fallout is about to hit two people, & neither of them is going to take it well.

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is going to have opinions, & I don’t think “supportive” is one of them. His daughter & Kyle Abbott? That’s a storyline he’s going to want to control, not accept. Victor doesn’t do “hands off” at all when it comes to Victoria’s love life, & Kyle is exactly the kind of Abbott entanglement that sends him into full chess-master mode. Expect scheming, expect a cold shoulder, expect at least one scene where he tells Kyle exactly what he thinks of him.

Then there’s Claire Newman (Hayley Erin), Kyle’s ex, who also happens to be Victoria’s daughter. Sit with that for a second. Claire watching her mother with her ex isn’t just awkward; it’s a full identity crisis waiting to happen. Does she confront Victoria? Does she run to Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) to vent?  If she does, how will her new love feel about Claire being concerned about her prior love, Kyle kissing her mom?

If the writers lean into that mess instead of rushing past it, this becomes one of the messiest, most rewatchable dynamics Young & the Restless has built in years.

What I’m Watching For Next

Beyond Victor & Claire, it will be entertaining to see how Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) reacts to his son getting tangled up with a Newman again, & whether Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) has thoughts about her daughter’s taste in men. This has ripple-effect potential across both families, which is exactly why I said it was worth it in the first place.

I said this pairing was worth the discomfort, & the show is proving it fast.

I still think it’s hot & worth it & this is exactly the hot mess I predicted.
