Reggie Bannister, best known for starring in the Phantasm film series, has passed away at the age of 80.
The actor breathed his last on Sunday, August 9, in his home in Crestline.
“Reggie Bannister fought debilitating effects of Parkinson’s while resting comfortably in his Mountain home with caregivers and Gigi by his side,” the actor family’s statement read.
“Gigi was with him till the end, as she had vowed, until death and meant it. Reggie‘s final request was to please let his fans know, ‘It’s never over,”’ the statement concluded.
Reggie’s wife, Gigi Bannister, also confirmed her husband’s death on social media.
“I last checked on my beloved Reggie Bannister’s condition. He was panting but quiet and asleep. I was exhausted so I went back to sleep,” she penned.
Gigi further explained that around 6 a.m. on Sunday, the couple’s cat ran upstairs and jumped onto the actor’s bed, prompting her to go and check on his well-being.
“Somewhere inside… in my soul… I knew,” she wrote. “Reggie was gone. He looked so quiet and peaceful. Like he was asleep.”
“In the snap of fingers, my best friend, my confidant, my partner, my soul mate was transitioned to another dimension – a higher plane,” Gigi continued.
“I will see you on the flip side, honey bunny,” she added. “Save me a hug! Wait for me.”
For those unversed, Reggie’s career spanned over four decades across film, television, and music.
The late star rose to fame after starring in the Phantasm film series as ice cream vendor-turned-hero Reggie.
