Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) has managed to generate serious heat with two very different women since returning to Young & the Restless, & honestly, it’s forcing a real conversation. First up was the infamous Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) pairing that had fans reeling for entirely different reasons. Then came Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), his most recent slow-burn connection — & yes, we know they go way back from his original run, but this is about the new Cane.

Phyllis brought out an entirely different energy in Cane right out of the gate — messier, more unpredictable, & frankly more entertaining to watch from a purely chaos-driven fan perspective. This was the pairing that had everyone asking “wait, really?” & not necessarily in a bad way. First impressions matter, & Cane’s first move back was a bold one.

The Case for Lily Winters (Cane’s Comeback)

Then there’s Lily, & there’s something about this dynamic that feels less like a fling & more like it’s actually building toward something. It’s the kind of connection Young & the Restless does well when it slows down instead of rushing straight to the bedroom — though clearly, that will happen too. History with the original Cane aside, this version is proving Lily brings out a steadier, more grounded side of him.

Which Pairing Actually Works Better…

If we’re talking chemistry, both women pulled something different out of Cane, & that’s honestly the fun of it. Phyllis got there first & brought the chaos; Lily might be the better long-term bet. Genoa City doesn’t really do boring, & Cane’s managed to prove that twice over in one comeback.
