On Friday, Beartooth shared its new single from the forthcoming album Pure Ecstasy, due Aug. 28 on Fearless Records. The track builds buzz ahead of the band’s sixth studio album and follows the previously released tracks “Pure Ecstasy” and “Free.” The band also announced its Pure Ecstasy World Tour which will head to Dallas.
The forthcoming LP finds gay frontman Caleb Shomo leaning into the track’s — and the upcoming album — channeling of both the chaos and clarity of personal growth. Shomo said in today’s announcement, “’Bullshit’ is a familiar song I’ve written many times. I wanted to revisit the musical style that was the catalyst of so much healing and discovery in my earlier years of Beartooth. It’s an exercise in letting the truth out about what you’re sick of in your own life. Sometimes the easiest way to deal with something is to yell about it as loud as you can. Can confirm, it felt as amazing to do this exercise now as I’d did when I was 19.”
The singer came out last month and talked to Rolling Stone about his experience.
Since the band’s start more than a decade ago, Beartooth has churned out songs dealing with anxiety, depression, anger and self-destruction and turn them into cathartic modern rock anthems. Healthy heavy metal for the win — and with a queer tint.
Beartooth will be supporting Pure Ecstasy with a world tour that kicks off this September in Europe. The North American leg begins in November including a stop in Dallas on Dec. 10 at the South Side Ballroom.
