Holden has Claire Newman on the brain like Connor Newman with his OCD, except Connor has an actual diagnosis. Holden so far can only be diagnosed with a case of dumb ass. Just ask his mother, Stephanie, & Holden has finally found “the one.” She coaxed his feelings for Claire out of him for sport. Yes, Stephanie is a doctor who would be familiar with OCD, but Holden is her son & does not want to diagnose him with that or a case of dumb ass… YET.

Claire Newman — Let’s Review When She Was Claire Grace
Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) arrived in Genoa City as Claire Grace with a plan. She got herself hired as Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) assistant at Newman Media in record time. Claire Grace checked all of Nikki Newman’s boxes, along with some boxes Nikki didn’t know she had… Like plotting with her Aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk) to destroy Nikki & the rest of the Newman family, but details, details.
Oddly, no big deal to the Newmans in the not-so-long run. Claire Grace now Newman is the best daughter, granddaughter, businesswoman, friend & God knows what else since sliced bread.
Hmmmm… Perhaps the Newmans have shared their Claire Kool-Aid with Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) because what in what??!!
The Holden/Hotel Room Situation
Holden is next to 100% agreeing with his mother, Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox), that Claire might be the one. Um, Holden & Claire live in Genoa City, yet they’ve never had sex in Genoa City. They have only had sex in hotel rooms, respectively in L.A. & in New York.
It’s fascinating that Holden Novak doesn’t find it a tad ascew that Claire-Bear, as his friend Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) calls her, is a total prude when they are in the city in which they both live.
Claire-Bear has only slept with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) before sleeping with Holden. She was all the sweet virgin & now she’s wild & hot in the sack, but only out of town. Holden, however, has had plenty of lady friends over the years. So, why is he acting like it is his first freaking day?
The Part Where Holden Is Kind of Dumb
Here’s what’s really frustrating about this whole situation. Holden just discovered that Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) — world-renowned photographer & Genoa City legend — is his biological father.
That means Holden has a direct bloodline to one of the most storied families in Genoa City history. The late Neil Winters (the late Kristoff St. John) built a legacy of respect & the pensions to prove it. Devon Winters (Bryton James) & Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) run Winters, Inc. together. Malcolm himself has lived large on a global stage for decades.
Holden is sitting on a golden ticket & he hasn’t even looked at it yet. He’s too busy obsessing over Claire Newman to realize the most valuable thing in his life right now isn’t a woman who only wants to see him outside city limits, it’s the last name he just inherited.
The Verdict
Both Claire & Holden are all that & a bag of chips in their own ways, like most in Genoa City. Yet, Holden’s obsession with Claire STILL makes no logical sense & Holden is walking around bat-shit obsessed while his actual sky’s the limit opportunity sits completely ignored.
The Winters bloodline doesn’t need a Newman connection. Holden just hasn’t figured that out yet.
Maybe someone should tell him… Perhaps Audra Charles. She’ll at least try.
