A MAJOR motorway has ground to a halt following a multi-car pile up.
The M1 northbound between junction 14 and junction 15 is closed after the smash this morning.
Drivers have been warned of 30 minute delays and queues stretching back two miles.
National Highways added that emergency services are on the scene.
A spokesperson said: “The M1 is closed northbound between Junction 14 (Milton Keynes) and Junction 15 (Northampton) due to a serious collision.
“Emergency services including Thames Valley Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.”
They continued: “Delays are likely on approach to the closure and diversion routes.
“If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
