Pacers or spinners, who will have say on tonight’s surface in Jaipur?

IPL 2026: Catch all the pitch details for tonight’s Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

The IPL 2026 games come thick and fast. Now, two teams are coming in with very different momentum. Rajasthan Royals (RR) are riding high after becoming first team to beat Punjab Kings, while Delhi Capitals (DC) are desperate for a turnaround after three straight losses. In their last game, they were bundled for a paltry 75. The return of Mitchell Starc will be massive for them, especially against RR’s explosive opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. But in Jaipur, the pitch might just end up being the biggest talking point again.

RR vs DC Pitch Report: Sawai Mansingh Stadium

This game will be played on pitch number 4, and if recent matches are anything to go by, expect runs. In the last three night games on this surface, teams batting first have posted 196, 217 and 206. Interestingly, two of those totals were chased down, which tells you that there might be dew chances as well

The surface has a decent grass covering, but underneath it is slightly dry. That combination keeps some pace in the wicket while also allowing batters to trust the bounce. It is not a sluggish Jaipur pitch like in the past. You can hit through the line, and once set, batters can target all parts of the ground.

The dimensions help as well. Square boundaries are around 63m and 67m, while straight is 71m. That makes it easier for batters to access the shorter side, especially against spin. With dew expected later in the evening, chasing could once again be the preferred option.

Key match-ups on this surface

Jofra Archer could be a big factor early on. He has been one of the best powerplay bowlers this season, picking up wickets consistently in the first over itself. Delhi, on the other hand, have struggled in that phase, scoring at just over 8 runs per over, among the lowest in the league.

  • Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi have added 451 runs this season. They average over 50 as a pair, scoring rate is above 12 runs per over.
  • However, Delhi’s in-form batters, KL Rahul and Nitish Rana have a superb record while batting in Jaipur.

What happened in the last IPL match in Jaipur?

The only game here this season turned into a complete run-fest. Rajasthan Royals put up 228 on the board, thanks largely to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s stunning century and a fifty from Dhruv Jurel. At one stage, RR looked set for 250, but slowed down at the death and left a few runs out there.

It came back to hurt them. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) chased down 229 with 1.3 overs to spare, one of the highest successful chases in IPL history. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan took the game away with a 132-run stand, both striking at over 200. RR’s bowling struggled but the main issue was the fielding. A lot of catches were dropped throughout that day.
