Sinner Sweeps To Paris Masters 1000 Title

Jannik Sinner capped off a flawless week in Paris by defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-6(4) to claim his maiden Rolex Paris Masters title and reclaim the World No. 1 ranking.

The Italian didn’t drop a set all tournament, extending his indoor winning streak to 26 matches and confirming his status as the undisputed king of hard courts heading into Turin.

Sinner was untouchable on serve once again, allowing just three return points in the opening set, and while Auger-Aliassime pushed hard in the second, particularly on serve, the Canadian couldn’t sustain the level needed to break through. In the tiebreak, Sinner’s precision and depth proved decisive as he closed out the match in clinical fashion.

For Felix, it was still a superb week, a reminder of the player who was touted for Slam Success. His recent run of form secures him a near-certain spot at the ATP Finals, where he’ll look to build on the momentum of his best run of the season.

As for Sinner, he’s now two-thirds of the way to completing the perfect indoor treble after Vienna and Paris and based on this form, few would bet against him completing it in Turin.

Match Recap

  • Sinner did not drop a set all week, becoming the first player to win a Masters 1000 title without losing a set since Carlos Alcaraz at Indian Wells 2023 and the first in Paris since Djokovic.
  • The Italian extended his indoor winning streak to 26 matches.
  • First set: Sinner broke early and held serve with precision to take it 6-4.
  • Second set: Auger-Aliassime pushed hard, forcing a tiebreak, but Sinner dominated with clean, aggressive play to close it 7-4.

Key Milestones

  • Maiden Paris Masters title for Sinner.
  • Fifth tour-level title of 2025 (also won in the Australian Open, Wimbledon, China Open and Vienna).
  • Head-to-head vs. FAA: Sinner now leads 3-2, having beaten the Canadian in Cincinnati and the US Open earlier this year.

Rankings Impact

  • Sinner regains World No. 1 in the ATP Rankings on Monday.
  • Narrows gap to Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP Live Race to Turin to 1,050 points.
  • The Year-End No. 1 battle will be decided at the Nitto ATP Finals, where Sinner is the defending champion.

Felix Auger-Aliassime’s Run

  • Reached his second ATP Masters 1000 final (first since 2024 Madrid).
  • Climbed to 8th in the Live Race to Turin, now 160 points ahead of Lorenzo Musetti.
  • Will play the ATP 250 in Metz next week, but is almost certain to lock in his Nitto ATP Finals spot.

Verdict

I predicted Sinner would go on an indoor hard court tear by winning Vienna, Paris, and the ATP Finals, and so far, he’s 66% of the way there to achieving this.

He’s far too good on hard courts, and it’s rare you get a player who is topping the leaderboards for both serve and return stats, but Jannik has managed it.

Today, he was completely untroubled on serve; FAA won just 3 return points in the opening set, and it was one he really needed to win to try and land that mental blow of knowing you have to grind out a three-set win.

Instead, Sinner had that 1 set cushion, and he knew he just had to push himself hard at the right times to get the job done, and his precision in the tie break proved the difference.

Felix’s job was to keep Sinner out there for as long as possible and test out his stamina, given he’s been shaking out his leg this week, and he definitely pushed hard in the second set with more success, but just couldn’t find a way to create a break point.
