The forthcoming Proton X90 MC1 facelift has been sighted on Malaysian roads, courtesy of paultan.org reader with the screen name Arashikage.
From the supplied images, it appears that this example continues to wear the current model‘s front fascia beneath its camouflage foil, with the current model’s alloy wheels also seen here. Its exterior dimensions therefore can expected to be unchanged, at 4,835 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,785 mm tall with a 2,815 mm wheelbase.
From the Proton Tech Showcase that was held by the national carmaker earlier this month, we know that the three-row SUV, among other upcoming models, will receive the 1.5 i-GT turbocharged four-cylinder engine as featured in the Proton X50 facelift that was launched in July this year.
This powerplant outputs 181 PS and 290 Nm, and in the X50 facelift it is paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels. This will however do without the 48-volt mild-hybrid system of the current X90 that is powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, making 190 PS and 300 Nm.
Time will tell if the interior will be as unchanged as its exterior, though for reference, the Geely Haoyue L facelift that was revealed last month gets a different dashboard with a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and 10.2-inch driver’s instrument display; the current X90 uses a 12.3-inch infotainment unit.
The Haoyue L facelift also sports a different centre console arrangement, where the transmission selector is side-by-side with the pair of cupholders. While the Geely model is offered with either five, six or seven seats, the Proton X90’s positioning is likely to have it continue with a three-row configuration.
