Matthew Lillard revealed that his acting career began in a very unexpected way when he worked as a scare actor at a Halloween event.
At just nineteen, the Scream star ran through a haunted house at Knottβs Scary Farm in California, scaring guests with his clothes torn and wild energy.
βI was a haunt actor at Knottβs Scary Farm when I was nineteen years old,β he shared.
βI ran around the asylum with my clothes ripped off and scaring people. That was one of my first jobs ever. I donβt think Iβve ever told anyone that.β
Even though he started out as a scare actor, Matthew admitted that he still gets terrified when he visits haunted houses.
βLast year I went through one at Universal Studios and I thought it would be boring. It scared the bejesus out of me,β he shared.
The Life of Chuck actor explained that people love horror because it makes them feel something real.
βThat is why horror movies and spooky events are so popular. People long to feel things when they are in a dark theater,β he said.
Matthew will soon return as Stu in Scream 7, which will arrive in theaters in 2026.
However, he further accepted that he was nervous about it but also thrilled to give it another try. βIt is a risk but one I was excited to take.β
βI am really excited for people to see it. It is not going to ruin the franchise.β
