The final Masters 1000 of the season is here, and while the Race to Turin is all but settled, there’s still plenty on the line in Paris with ranking points, 25% bonuses and one last chance to end the year on a high.
This year’s Rolex Paris Masters marks the tournament’s first full edition at La Défense Arena, Europe’s largest indoor venue, with the Bercy now a thing of the past.
While it was never the best venue for TV viewers because of the camera angle, it produced a great atmosphere and perhaps the coolest walk-ons and player intros on tour, so we’ll see if this new venue can replicate it.
Carlos Alcaraz headlines as the top seed, returning from a three-week break after his Tokyo triumph, while Jannik Sinner anchors the bottom half. Alexander Zverev defends the crown he won 12 months ago, and Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Alex de Minaur are all looking to cap strong seasons with a statement run.
There’s less end-of-year tension this time around, as basically all of the Turin places are locked in. With Novak Djokovic, Holger Rune, and Stefanos Tsitsipas all missing, the draw feels wide open for someone to seize the moment and capture their maiden Masters 1000 title.

Thoughts on the Draw

Top Half
Seeded players: (1) Carlos Alcaraz, (8) Casper Ruud, (9) Félix Auger-Aliassime, (12) Andrey Rublev, (13) Alexander Bublik, (14) Jiří Lehečka, (15) Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, (16) Daniil Medvedev
Projected Semi-Final: Carlos Alcaraz (1) vs. Casper Ruud
Carlos Alcaraz returns to action for the first time since his Tokyo triumph, looking to end his season on a high and capture his first Rolex Paris Masters title.
He opens against either Cameron Norrie or Sebastián Báez, a pair of tricky opponents known for their consistency, though neither has been particularly threatening of late.
A potential third-round encounter with Jiří Lehečka could await, and he’s proven he can hang with Alcaraz in some of their previous meetings.
Shanghai finalists Vacherot and Rinderknech also sit in this section, and it will be interesting to see if they can replicate the level they showed in Asia now that they are back on home soil.
Elsewhere in this half, Félix Auger-Aliassime and Casper Ruud are potential quarter-final opponents for Alcaraz. Aliassime retired in his match in Basel today, which all but ended his Turin hopes, so there’s probably a chance he doesn’t play.
Ruud also retired against Davidovich Fokina so his fitness also has question marks around it, will he show up in Paris just to avoid the 25% bonus deduction if he weren’t to play? Maybe.
The second quarter features Taylor Fritz (4) and Alex de Minaur (6). Fritz’s opener is a bye, but his section is filled with tricky chaos merchants like Corentin Moutet, Alexander Bublik and Terence Atmane, while De Minaur’s corridor features Tallon Griekspoor/Gabriel Diallo, Shapovalov/Fonseca and possibly Karen Khachanov, the 2018 champion, although the change in venue does potentially render past performances in Paris less of a factor.
Bottom Half
Seeded players: (2) Jannik Sinner, (3) Alexander Zverev, (5) Ben Shelton, (7) Lorenzo Musetti, (11) Daniil Medvedev, (12) Andrey Rublev, (15) Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, (16) Jakub Menšík
Projected Semi-Final Alexander Zverev (5) vs Jannik Sinner (2)
Alexander Zverev (3) anchors the top quarter of the bottom half with Lorenzo Musetti (7) seeded across. Zverev’s early rounds look manageable, but Davidovich Fokina or Ugo Humbert can be tricky; the latter, in particular, is a real handful indoors, and he’s currently in the last four over in Basel.
Musetti is currently still in the Vienna tournament and could face Daniil Medvedev in the third round. Meddy ended his title drought in Almaty, but I’m still not sold on his level, and he just doesn’t seem able to hit through the guys he used to dominate 2/3 years ago.
Grigor Dimitrov is also back in the draw after his horror Wimbledon injury, but he’s short of match play and faces big-serving Mpetshi Perricard in his opener. A year ago, GMP would have been the hot favourite, but he hasn’t been able to replicate his 2024 season, so a Dimitrov win isn’t out of the question if he can hit the ground running.
Jannik Sinner (2) headlines the bottom quarter in the bottom half and opens against Alex Michelsen or Zizou Bergs. Sinner’s depth and pace control indoors have been ruthless of late, so I can see him completely sweeping the indoor season with Vienna, Paris and Turin all heading his way
Ben Shelton (5) is the seed to meet him in the quarters, but he’s struggling to get back to his best after the shoulder injury, and he’ll need to navigate David Goffin/Alexandre Muller and possibly Andrey Rublev (12), who’s always a handful under a roof. Jakub Menšík (16) is a live floater if he’s fit after he withdrew from his match at the Swiss Indoors.
Who do you think wins the Paris Masters? Is Sinner a lock for the title?
