Adrian Mannarino outlasted Matteo Berrettini in a high-quality, two-set battle. Mannarino’s flat groundstrokes and clutch play in big moments proved decisive, and he’s really turned his season around after a poor start.
It looked like he was very much on the downswing, but the second half of the year has produced some solid results, and he lost just 9 points on serve today against the former semi-finalist.

David Goffin delivered the comeback against Alexandre Muller, rallying from a tight first-set loss where he squandered a set point before finding his rhythm, serving 13 aces and firing 38 winners to move into round two.
Marin Cilic def. Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-3, 7-6(5)
Former US Open champion Marin Cilic snapped a five-match losing streak with a commanding win over qualifier Nikoloz Basilashvili.
Cilic had a booming service day, and Basiliashvili also played his part, but it was the Croat who came up clutch. Basiliashvili will be disappointed not to force a decider as he found some momentum in set two but Cilic is into round 2 where he’ll face Djokovic.
