Influencer Emily Hunt shares the dramatic changes that she underwent after taking Mounjaro, including hair thinning, muscle loss, and extreme appetite shifts.

GLP-1 medicines work by slowing down how fast the stomach empties and sending signals to the brain that you are full.
Weight-loss medications are becoming increasingly popular, but influencer Emily Hunt’s recent revelation has sparked fresh concern about their side effects. Hunt shared her personal experience after taking Mounjaro, a GLP-1-based weight-loss drug, revealing dramatic changes, including hair thinning, muscle loss, and extreme appetite shifts.
In her Instagram post, Hunt said the drug first gave her more energy and helped her lose weight slowly. But later, the weight loss became very fast and “quite scary,” making her worried about the sudden changes in her body.
One of the most distressing effects she reported was hair thinning. She also said she lost significant muscle mass, describing herself as “literally just skin and bone.” Even months after stopping the medication, she continues to struggle with rebuilding muscle strength.
Extreme Appetite Changes And Eating Difficulties Reported
Hunt also described severe changes in her appetite and eating habits while on the medication. She said she could barely eat more than a small salad per day and often felt unwell after consuming alcohol.
“I puked every time I had a glass of wine,” she wrote, highlighting how sensitive her body became. After discontinuing the drug, she experienced intense hunger and said her body was “craving more food than ever,” suggesting a rebound effect.
These experiences show how GLP-1 medicines work by slowing down how fast the stomach empties and sending signals to the brain that you are full. This helps people eat less, but it can also cause some unexpected physical side effects.
What Is Mounjaro And How GLP-1 Weight Loss Drugs Work
Mounjaro, also called tirzepatide, is part of a group of medicines known as GLP-1 therapies. These medicines act like natural hormones in the body that help control blood sugar and reduce appetite. They are mainly used to treat type 2 diabetes, but are now also being prescribed to help with weight loss and obesity.
Doctors say these medications can help people lose more than 10% of their body weight when used along with a healthy diet and regular exercise. However, they emphasise that these drugs are not suitable for everyone and require careful medical supervision.
Who Should And Should Not Use GLP-1 Weight Loss Injections
Health Experts recommend GLP-1 drugs mainly for people with obesity (BMI of 30 or higher) or those with weight-related conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea. They are not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with certain thyroid cancers, or those with serious digestive disorders.
Medical evaluation, regular monitoring, and lifestyle commitment are essential parts of treatment to ensure safety and long-term success.
Mounjaro Cost In India And Why Expert Guidance Is Important
Cost is also an important factor. Endocrinologist Dr Ambrish Mithal said that Mounjaro costs about ₹10,000 per month for lower doses and around ₹20,000–₹22,000 per month for higher doses in India.
While these drugs can help manage obesity and improve metabolic health, experts stress that they should only be taken under professional medical guidance.
