World No. 2 Jannik Sinner stormed into the second round in Vienna, Austria on Wednesday, easily defeating Daniel Altmaier 6-0, 6-2.

Needing 58 minutes to advance, Sinner will next face Flavio Cobolli for a place in the quarterfinals. Cobolli dismissed Tomas Machac 7-6(6), 6-2 earlier in the day.

Sinner and Cobolli have never played on Tour.

Other results on the day saw recently Almaty winner Daniil Medvedev, Matteo Berrettini, and Corentin Moutet all reach the second round.

No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev needed three sets to reach the second round of Tuesday, defeating Jacob Fearnley in two hours and 20 minutes.

Zverev will take on Matteo Arnaldi for a place in the quarterfinals.

Swiss Indoors Baselβ€”Switzerland

Over in Basel, Switzerland, No. 4 seed Casper Ruud, No. 5 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, Joao Fonseca and Botic van de Zandschulp all advanced to the second round.

Top seed Taylor Fritz will face inform Monaco native Valentin Vacherot in the first round. Vacherot recently won the Rolex Shanghai Masters earlier this month for his first-ever Tour title.
