June 2025 may be the worst month of the year for Xbox Game Pass subscribers based on its new additions, especially when compared to previous months. Microsoft’s subscription service for Xbox consoles and PC has a catalog of games that continuously expands with the addition of new titles for its members to play without any extra costs, though some games are also selected to leave every month. The new Xbox Game Pass games in June 2025 include titles like The Alters and FBC: Firebreak, for example, while Remnant 2, Firework, and Humanity have already left the catalog.
Over the past few months, the subscription service has had a large number of popular games added to its catalog, including Game of the Year contenders. This isn’t always the case, as a lot of the additions to Game Pass rely on releases, but it’s been a great series of months for subscribers. The future is also looking promising with several titles lined up for release in the catalog, but this month’s Xbox Game Pass catalog additions are, possibly, the most subpar when compared to the rest of the year, even with a great RPG release on Xbox in June.
June’s Xbox Game Pass Offerings Aren’t As Great As April Or May’s
Previous Months Offered Players Games Like Clair Obscur & Doom: The Dark Ages
Compared to previous months, specifically April and May, the Game Pass offerings in June aren’t as great. This month’s most notable additions are the aforementioned The Alters and FBC: Firebreak. Both titles are day-one additions, meaning they both arrive in the catalog on the same day as their official release date. The Alters’ release on Xbox Game Pass is especially exciting, as it offers players an innovative approach to the survival genre in a sci-fi setting. As good as this game is, it pales in comparison to a few of the most recent additions.

Xbox Game Pass New Additions Include One Of The Best RPGs Of All Time
In another win for Xbox Game Pass, the service will be adding Metaphor ReFantazio on May 29, in addition to other great games coming to the service.
In April, Game Pass saw the addition of titles like South of Midnight, Blue Prince, and the critically acclaimed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which is a GOTY contender, according to its Metacritic score and overall reception. In May, the subscription service also thrived with the addition of games like Dredge, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, and Doom: The Dark Ages, which was a day-one release. The past couple of months have been spectacular for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, so the lineup for June makes the month seem somewhat dull in comparison, even if it has great games.
Later Months In 2025 Should Be Big Wins For Game Pass
Subscribers Will Have Access To The Outer Worlds 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, & More
Although the current month seems underwhelming when considering the games that came in previous months, this is by no means a bump in the road. During the later months of 2025, players can expect grand new additions to the catalog, many of which are day-one releases. The release of The Outer Worlds 2 in October will be resounding, as it will also be a day-one addition to Xbox Game Pass. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will also be released later this year, and because it’s an Xbox IP, it should be added to Game Pass day-one, too.

After A 2-Year Break, I Finally Feel Xbox Game Pass Is Worth It
Xbox Game Pass has been very hit or miss for me, but after a few years away, I finally feel like it is worth subscribing to for one key reason.
Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the first installment in the series, will also be released later this year, in August, and as a first-party game, it will be added to Xbox Game Pass. Furthermore, Ninja Gaiden 4 is also being released soon, in October, and the title can already be pre-downloaded via Xbox Game Pass. Even the highly anticipated release of Hollow Knight: Silksong at some point this year may be among Microsoft’s possible additions to the service.
It was shown as one of the featured games for the ROG Xbox Ally handheld console, and given how it was highlighted, there is a chance it will be part of the subscription service. While June may have slowed down in terms of new catalog additions when compared to previous months, excitement should pick up soon, as the future catalog for Xbox Game Pass includes huge and highly anticipated titles.
