John Krasinski Reveals Whether He’d Return as Jim in New ‘The Office’ Spin-off

There’s something special about 2000s sitcoms, with relatable characters, episodic stories, and lots of laughter. The shows made our lives better to the extent that most fans love to revisit a familiar sitcom once in a while. Among them is Steve Carrell-led The Office, which has given us many lovable characters. It now has a spin-off coming soon titled The Paper, and one of the original series’ alum, John Krasinski, who played Jim, is more than willing to return.

During a recent interview, The Quiet Place actor was asked about a potential cameo in the upcoming spin-off, and he confirmed he’s down for a cameo. The Paper stars Domhnall Gleeson, who worked with Krasinski on their latest film, Fountain of Youth. When asked about the spin-off, Krasisnski shared his excitement,

“I’m excited to see what they do with it. It’s such an amazing idea, and listen if Greg [Daniels] is behind it, we’re all in. And you can’t get a better actor than [Domhnall] to take on the mantle. He’s so, so great. He’s going to be so perfect for it, and we’ll probably start doing watch parties again just to watch them.”

When he was further asked if he would consider a cameo, he insisted, “Done! If they ask me, I’m in.” Krasinski’s character Jim Halpert made him a household name. Jim is a simple man, but highly intelligent, mild-mannered. His and Pam’s (Jenna Fischer) love story is as enjoyable as his pranks on Dwight (Rainn Wilson). Having Jim return in The Paper will provide a brilliant continuation to his story.

What to Expect from ‘The Paper’?

While not much is known about the plot, the spin-off will showcase the same workplace chaos but in a different setup, as the audience will be transported to a Midwestern newsroom where the employees and publisher are desperately trying to keep it alive. Speaking to Collider, Gleeson previously revealed that he got advice from co-star Krasisnki,

“Of course, I talked to John, and it was crazy. I was working with John, so I got to talk to him about it before I fully jumped onto the job, and he was incredible and has remained incredible. He’s also a wonderful director, I’m sure you know, and a writer. So, I got to learn a lot from him in loads of different ways.”

The series also cast Sabrina Impacciatore, Oscar Nuñez returns as Oscar Martinez, Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, Tim Key, Ramona Young, Alex Edelman, and Gbemisola Ikumelo. Stay tuned to Collider for more such updates.
